What a long day…it’s been 12 hours and time to drive home (slowly). Not much to talk about for the next 24-36 hours. We’ll see about the Wednesday snow possibilities tomorrow. Not a lot of moisture and none on some models.
Then it’s on to a quick switch to southerly wind Thanksgiving Day. That can warm us up quickly. Remember in the middle of the 2008 cold spell when a low pressure are formed to the north? We went from teens at 10pm one night to 39 by noon the next day with a breezy southwest wind. It does happen. Especially since we have no cold Gorge wind to keep us cool this time around.

I had to re-wrap the irragation pump, it was starting to freeze this am. Also had to do some creative weatherization in the barn, but it is up to 40+ where the plumbing is.
My son took his 90cc quad through some ice and a piece of it took out the wire to the coil. Way to think ahead you dorks at Arctic Cat! LOL It only took me about 2 hrs to trace that down, after looking at the gas, air cleaner, spark, battery, ugh… Sorry, but I had to vent! 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve commented on the blog. My new job/life here in Arkansas has kept me busy.
Anyway…I’m a bit jealous of the cold weather you’ve got going on out there. I love being back in the land of thunderstorms, but at the same time I dislike having highs in the 70s in the winter.
Anyways, I hope you’re all enjoying the cold spell. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Chucky D!!!! Do us a favor and pump up that SE ridge for about 3 weeks in December. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
According to the Weatherbug location in Clackamas we are getting a VERY slight ENE wind.
Okay kind of like between 1 mph and 0 so I guess nothing really at all
Cool! errr I mean COLD! East winds are finally *cranking* up.
Yeah really nothing at all here. Not sure if Weatherbug stations are reliable but it’s been more accurate than my weather station thing. That’s because I haven’t changed the batteries for awhile so I trust Weatherbug more plus the station is very close to where I live.
According to my “La Crosse Technology” weather instrument it is 26.6 near the base of Tabor. Could read a little warm because it’s fairly close to a porch light which may warm it a bit but it’s usually pretty accurate.
How good is *La CrosseTechnology*
Don had to take my weather station back twice because the wind gauge would not work even though we followed the instructions carefully such as holding it down for 2 seconds to receive a signal.
The signal transmitter was right outside my window so I am curious as to if anybody else had issues and what can be done.
Dad wrote a formal letter to them a week ago and I haven’t heard any word yet.
Such a shame that we are going to see RECORD COLD TEMPS but that in 12 hours it can go from teens to 40s, just amazing that WE WONT GET A TRANSITION EVENT out of this extremely north pole arctic air. Such a shame, such a waste.
Bob, the village just called. They’re missing somebody.
and thats a shame, ….why?…it’s weather, we’ve had a great little run, enjoy it for what it is….
Hey, Bob’s nay-saying again… we all know how that works out. Keep up the good work, Bob! 😉
I hope we have a wild winter- something in the vein of 1996. That would be fun. We need a much over do windstorm too. heh.

I think we might be headed for some frozen fog down this-a-way? It might just be smoke, it smells smoky out there, but there is a haze developing in the air and the layer of frost on cars is getting noticeably thicker over time. Everything unpaved is cRuNcHy!
This is insane for November!
I hope it bodes well for the rest of winter. 😀
Huh??? I’d put the chances of a category 3 hurricane hitting Lincoln City tonight about as high as I’d put frozen fog.
How so? In Beaverton I can see the fog bulding and im 20F with a DP of 20
Bitter cold air is significantly drier than normal. Typically temps and DP’s close together elicit fog however since this air is so arid, the mositure evaporates before condensing. Mid levels are warming somewhat so that would explain low clouds however it won’t translate to the surface.
Umm… I have no low clouds, it’s crystal clear above. Temp and dew point have been closing all evening. Are you saying that when they get close enough together that the dew point will suddenly fall away as the moisture content of the air magically shrinks? That’d be something to see! 😆
17.7 with dp of 15.5 here and still dropping.
I appreciate that in this kind of airmass there will obviously be large variations from site to site which can be seen on the obs page but I’m starting to wonder if there is a problem with some of the
recording equipment. Still 19º here.
19° currently…
Expecting temp of -20F tonight in Winthrop..

Sitting at a balmy 12.5 here right now, might see some single digits huh??
I’m liking my chances more and more for some more snow tomorrow night possibly. I’d be more than happy to give it to you guys if I could as I want things to be good for Turkey day travelling.
Looks like the warm front should be over us by midnight tomorrow for at least some snow flurries. NWS is calling for around an inch, I think that is underdone.
I actually think points from here down to Salem will see something, per my earlier comments.
agreed..
Just drove home from Vancouver…Here are the numbers
at 9pm.
20 degrees at LA|Fitness in Orchards
18 degrees at Sifton
14 degrees at 172nd & 139th (China Ditch) Brush Pr.
14 degrees at Battle Ground Lake Fire Station
16 degrees at my house
Guess you thought wrong Jesse LMAO
Some thought it would never get cold just 30 hours ago!
Other than the lack of snow and east wind, my forecast was spot on, right Mark?
I must admit I did not expect 10-15 degrees, but the gfs was calling for single digits.
I have a hard time believing the temperature at PDX is stuck at 24º. There’s no wind and its clear. And don’t tell me the freshwater breeze off of the Columbia is that big of a modifier. My temperature has been falling steadily all night with no corrections. I smell a conspiracy. Of course my closest reporting station is Vancouver and it agrees with me. 19º.
I’m a couple miles south of PDX and have been falling steadily. 18.2F right now.
Top of Mt Scott: 15.1 degrees ; -1.0 dew pt @ 9:00pm
