THE BASICS:
Commenting on this blog is open to anyone with an interest in or fascination with weather. Here at FOX-12 we're happy to provide you a space to "geek out" with fellow Pacific Northwesterners. But please don't abuse the privilege.
1. POSTING LINKS/VIDEO:
It's okay to insert video or pictures, as long as the link points to something appropriate for the general public. No politics, obscenity, etc...
2. CHOOSE A NAME ONCE:
Choose a name or identification once and stick with it. The very first time you comment it is held for moderation. After it's approved, that EXACT name will be allowed to comment at any time. Note that this applies to your IP address too. So using the same name but on Grandma's computer will require a one-time hold as well. This keeps the spam out.
3. NO PROFANITY:
This is pretty obvious, but avoid being rude or taunting others too.
4. NO RACISM, OR VIOLENT THREATS:
This will get you kicked off quickly. Please report this to me at mark.nelsen@kptv.com if it happens here.

At my station in Battle Ground:
Today’s high of 90 is my first high 90+ for the year. The average first 90 is on June 23rd, so just 6 days ahead of average. The earliest? April 18th, 2016. The latest? August 20th in 2011!
Very cool!
Check out the gust front from this evening’s storms:
Nice thunderstorms in my area 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I’m downtown for the festival but I see a huge storm on the radar coming to my home 🤗🤗🤗🤗
This is an interesting development .
Wow, were pulling in the power big time.
Air conditioner going, 2 fans, and bread machine, constant 768 watts of power steady.
To the east of us heading south, thunderstorms .just over the cascade hills…they just now popping up.
Heat wave approaching – brace for impact!
Uhmmmm, hey guys? Look toward the NE Portland. I don’t care if it’s on radar, satellite, or visual, but…
On, and it’s moving straight toward Portland.
Hold onto your butts!!
I’m at Crown Point right now. It’s raining but no lightning or thunder. But I think maybe later it will. I see some bigger storms on the radar towards our East/NE. 🤗🤗
Rained in Beaverton around 6pm yesterday! Who’s putting out those forecasts? They blew it!
Start watching the radar 🤗
Somebody sprayed water on the road in my neighborhood this morning!
I had a surprise shower in my area early today as well, but by the time I got up this morning(before 7am) skies cleared right off. It’s getting warm out there now.
Still rather cloudy here this morning. Mean temperature this month is about 2.5F below average for me, but I expect that will change over the next several days.
Looks like the chance for some hot weather is increasing. But,
looks like the chance for thunderstorms is decreasing, though they’re not entirely off the table… yet.
SPC Outlook — Day 3
I know hot weather is just around the corner (We’ll see temperatures well into the 80’s even here) but this morning has been the dreariest I’ve seen since mid-April; Low overcast, showers and a current temperature of 52.7F. Got to get better than this, please.
One last try.
No idea why I’ve been having so much trouble with this…
test
No idea what’s going on with the blog, but I’ve been getting this all morning…
It;s great WK. where are you at?

I see the warmer weather next week but I’m not sure if some of you see the other part of the weather? It looks like we could have a few days of T-storms too. I know it’s a little over a week away but the GFS and EURO show the same thing. We’ll see if they keep showing it the next few days.
This is Wednesday 6/20/18

Then here is the next day, the 21st on the GFS.

I guess I should have clicked the next frame. This is amazing if this actually happens.

Historic June heatwave coming up? 7 days of 90 plus? A couple of 100 plus. The GFS is giving us 107 next Wednesday. This is getting silly. That’s how I know it will actually happen. The warm records are dropping like flies the last few years. Lucky us.
G-R-O-A-N
Wouldn’t beat the record of 10-straight from last June.
Welp, looks like my old thunderstorm forecasting method held true, yet again! I leave town, Portland gets slammed. While y’all had no less than 4 rounds of strong thunderstorms roll through (two of which were severe warned,) with hail and even another Clark Couty tornado, I was enjoying a mostly sunny day with a only few brief showers mixed in down at the Coast.
Watching sunset over the water from our hotel was a real treat!

Well, that link didn’t work.
Let’s try this instead?
Video not availiable?
Well, it seems that all the excitement this past weekend was south of the border(i.e hail, thundershowers). Here I had a lot of sun(mixed with some clouds) breezy and coolish temperatures. Hot next weekend? Looks like a repeat of last June.
55 degrees for a high in Battle Ground. Ties for my coldest June high in the last 8 years of record here. The other 55 was on June 8th in 2012.
Am I seeing this correct….starting Fathers Day in the 90’s and several days after as well???
Since nobody else is talking about it… 100 degrees coming up? Starting next weekend, we are going to be getting many days of ridiculous heat in a row. Maybe a week at 90 plus? We’ll see. Moses have mercy.
My tomatoes and peppers will enjoy the heat. Me on the other hand, not so much. 100 degrees, “holly snikies!”
That is a cruel joke! Please no!!
Kaboom!=
Another REALLY heavy downpour with hail mixed in.
Rumble of thunder just now.
Lots of hail and heavy downpours this morning around 10:30. Had a big hailstorm (pea sized at the least — maybe even bean sized) with thunder about 10 minutes ago. Still raining hard here near Rose City Golf Course. The parade folks got lucky!
It looks like so storms are firing up now.
Nothing exciting here- yet. I see some towering Cu in the distance, but otherwise it’s been nice here. Yesterday’s rainfall (0.54 inches, plus a few early showers of 0.03 inches) was needed: yesterday morning when precipitation began, I poked my fingers into some soil near a lawn: almost dry as dust once you got below the very top surface.
I’ve been having hail on and off for the past 20 minutes 😒
Lucky you!
I think it will be a very active day. Probably see a lot of hail and thunderstorms. I’ve seen a lot of hail and it’s not even noon yet.
We just had thunder and lightning in SE Portland about 15 minutes ago.
I really like hail!
RAIN!!! Woot!!
Sorta feels tropical in day time, but night..brrr…i am still having to RUN a heater…grr…
Where is summer?
Our tomatoes are not doing so well this year, I fear it will be another “Green Tomato” summer this year…if we ever get something resembling a summer.
To me summer isn’t when you have to RUN a heater in the daytime and nighttime to stay warm.
You should have planted your tomatoes over a month ago; they would’ve loved the warm May weather.
Lol, now they are perking up.
Lol, we’ll have a blizzard when your gone…hehe. First 🤗😂🤗😂🤗😂
Exciting weather always seems to happen when Mark’s away on vacation!
Thunderboomers tomorrow!!!
Where is summer?
