The Rain Is Back!

11pm Sunday

The rain is back this evening, although we’ve had less than 1/10th of an inch in the city.  Much more has fallen since mid-afternoon out over the Cascades, including the western portion of the Eagle Creek Fire:

There is lots more rain to come, as I’ve been mentioning for the past week.  Our RPM model is estimating 1-2″ by late Wednesday in the western valleys and 3-5″ over the Cascade crest and down into the western foothills.

Even the dry north-central part of Oregon will get enough to settle the dust.  This may be our wettest week since March; for sure the wettest since May.

Enjoy all your indoor pursuits the next few days!

.20 today so far and .08 yesterday in NE Portland. Looking forward to more!

  2. WEATHERDAN says:

.16 of rain so far. Partly Sunny and 60 now. More showers and wind for the next 3 days than a return to sunny weather even into early October with highs ranging from the mid 70,s to low 80,s. What a nice way to slip into Autumn.Hoping for at least another .50 inch of rain before it dries out and we may get it. TV mets have been calling for heavy rains in the Valley today. Still may get it but not so far today. Oh well, after last Winter I hope they always overestimate the rainfall this year. A normal water year would be nice. Peace.

  3. Roland Derksen says:

We got about 0.24 inches here yesterday. But it isn’t the rainfall as much as the temperature change that I’ve noticed; yesterday’s high of 60F felt so cool after the 77F maximum the day before.

  4. Tyler Mode in Battle Ground says:

0.31″ yesterday and 0.09″ so far today in Battle Ground.

  5. Jack says:

Never been so happy to see rain. Let it fall and fall and fall.

  6. Jason Hougak says:

I’ve got two jobs in Dodson today just west of Bonneville Dam to get well pump systems back up and running.
Timberline cam shows snow on the white river canyon ridge to the east.
