Final numbers are in and they look like this:

and this:

Note the 107 in Salem and 108 in Roseburg…are we still west of the Cascades in Oregon???

They were both just one degree off the all-time high, but saw the same temperature two years ago during that late July heatwave in 2015.  But Medford has beat us all, those folks just endured their hottest day since I was 12 years old…that’s a long time!  But no stations in Oregon reached all-time highs…we knew a few would be close.

Too bad that “woulda-coulda-shoulda” can never change outcomes in sports-weather-business-life. But you sure do have to believe that the smoke intrusion negated a real shot at shattering the Portland all time high temperature record. All other features seemed to have been in place!

  2. Damn, betting my rent money on breaking the all-time record today was an awful idea.

  3. Tyler Mode in Battle Ground says:

High of 104 today, hottest temperature I’ve ever recorded in my 7 years in Battle Ground!

  4. Roland Derksen says:

I’m getting a SW breeze now- perhaps it will clear off the smoke that has covered our normally blue sky. I miss seeing the mountains as well!

  5. ron says:

there’s a nice breeze out of the south now in Astoria. Marine air is mixing in and it feels pretty good!

  6. Joshua Downtown PDX says:

-2 degrees from yesterday at this time. All-time record ain’t happening. Thank God.

  7. Jake-(Gresham near Nadaka Nature Park) says:

This heat is not something I’m used too. Decided to sleep through the day with the AC at a level it could maintain (78F). Studying for my GRE through the night; screw doing this any other way. Thank goodness it drops under 70F at night or we’d have fatalities for sure. A lot of people think only Winter can be deadly; a very good piece on how that is not the case:

    • Joshua Downtown PDX says:

It’s 73.5 here right now. It’s not going to drop below 70.

    • Jake-(Gresham near Nadaka Nature Park) says:

Made it to 68 here down from 101 yesterday. Now 70 and just finished watering the fruit trees and plants. Sunrise was red / deep orange. Man is there a ton of smoke!

  8. Boydo3 N. Albany says:

Smoke probably kept temps down a few degrees. But the air quality is really bad because of the smoke. And if you live in an area where the rye grass farmers are working the fields like I do, combine that with the smoke…. it’s wretched!

  9. Lee Wilson says:

This is what I pretty much did all day….

oh apparently our washer has a buit in Hot water tank ?

  10. Christiana says:

I don’t mind a couple of hot days but man this is getting unreal. Any estimate on when we get back to our Oregon Summer?

  11. Lee Wilson says:

made a killing off my Solar and generator lol..

on the flip side please becarefull of your pets, and remeber your blood pressure meds..and for Heaevens sakes, Alchol dehydrates you.

  12. J Patrick Moore says:

I saw the sun going down orange and thought back to my mom telling us kids aboutthe Tillamook fires in years gone by. Hit 101.1 on the back porch in SW Oreon City

  13. Jason Hougak says:

The Whitewater Fire is about to burn down Jefferson Park, one of Oregons most scenic backcountry spots. I hate this hot dry summer!

  14. Jason Hougak says:

Very spooky out there on way home tonight. The smoke haze smog makes it look foggy, the moon has a orange glow, reminds me of Halloween yet it’s hot outside. The air is so dry it really didn’t feel as hot as it could have been. I think the May heat felt hotter. I was sweating buckets then but not as bad today. Ready for winter!

  15. High Desert Mat says:

Made it to 101 today in Redmond at my place. Smoke has been here all day. Tomorrow looks eerily similar.
