No Subduction Zone Quake or Mt. Hood Eruption

3pm Monday…

This “information age” is often more of a “disinformation age”.  With social media ANYONE can post ANYTHING and it gets picked up, shared, re-tweeted all around the globe in a short period of time.

It happened today when lots of you received this from a friend/neighbor etc…

or saw this Tweet

So dramatic!  My “male-cow poo” meter went up immediately.  It didn’t take much time to go to the site (which now appears to be offline at this very moment) and see something about Buffalo getting wiped off the map in a separate story.  Right…

There is no such radio station in New York. has a story about another fake “report” from this website a month or so ago.

So much junk floating around the internet, including fake weather stories too.  Stick to reputable media/weather organizations while on the Internet.  It avoids a lot of confusion!

So, no explanation for the large tidal surge that occurred along the Washington Coast just a few hours after this non-“event”?

Once again, for the record: I don’t believe in coincidence.

Enough already! Back to sanity. (As if the “usual” trends in our weather aren’t insane enough, without the stupid propagations!) Aaaannnyyywwwaaayy looking forward to a DRY day Wed. And some day off hiking in the Gorge. Followed by COPIOUS rain Thursday. And–YES–STILL–hoping for that quintessential anomalous late winter low elevation winter event!

I heard there is going to be a great upheaval earthquake that will lift all of PDX to an elevation of 2,000 feet and 6″ snowfalls will occur frequently every winter.

Anyway back to reality, I’m an older guy and have lived here most of my entire life in the Oregon City area. My birthday is this week and let me tell you we are stuck as usual in “my birthday doldrums of winter”! I don’t ever remember having a white birthday and it just seems to me to be the winter pattern of the season to not have arctic outbreaks with significant snowfall around the 3rd or 4th week of January. Sure there has been the remnants or very cold weather playing out during this time but unfortunately nothing awesome like a nice winter snowy cold spell.

Well…I just read on the internet that the polar vortex is forecast to move down right over us. It should position itself such that the Willamette river will freeze over, the only gasoline depot in the nw will run dry, and all power will be lost until spring!

  7. What! ??? LMAO 45 foot wave makes it over the Coast Range…. LOLOL. The disinformation age is exactly right. The dumbed down generation. It is now a plague the past several years just pure nonsense passed around on social media like an epidemic of stupidity from one illegitimate site to the next.

    “The Sky is Falling”

I know it is true. I read it on Chief Meteorologist Mark Nelsen’s blog. True, it was only written in the comments, but these meteorologists are smart people and they know things. I’m taking cover right away just to be safe.
