Well that was kind of exciting. No effects traffic-wise on metro area except maybe someone’s deck could have been briefly icy. PDX officially had a trace. It only got partly cloudy here at home on the far eastside and now radar returns have really dried up.
When I get to work I’ll be looking at the chance for freezing drizzle/showers in the western Gorge overnight, and more widespread freezing rain in the Gorge TOMORROW night.

One more time:
This is a free blog to comment and express your opinions young man, it’s not for you to make the rules and try to be the authority figure even if you work with Mark, anytime I see someone making outrageous statements that are bigoted and inflammatory as you corrected me, then I will speak to object, I don’t care who’s blog it is even if it’s your friend. As you grow older and start to mature you will realize the wisdom that I have presented to you. Best of luck in your future as a wise adult.

Just to be clear JohnD, I agree with you that this is not the place for that cr*p. My beef is with FT and his ilk who seem to fancy themselves the blog police. Mark will tolerate what Mark will tolerate and people can choose to ignore comments like Josh’s – or respond like FT. It’s entirely Mark’s call. The “hall monitors” can sound off as they choose – and they simply open the door for more drama. I suspect that’s what they’re after, in some ways.
A little ego is a dangerous thing.
I think we’re done here, Ted.
Just noticed the snow on the blog…nice!
It a sad day when civility is lost when venting inappropriate comments of hatred towards others, this kind of inflammable fear mongering has no place in our society, much less in a “fun” weather blog. Peace, and no you lose, you will understand someday and cry about your stupidity.
Inflammatory, I think, is the word you’re grasping for.
When someone posts something you find inappropriate or inflammatory (see?), you are quite justified in calling them out.
BUT, when you start with the name-calling and confrontational chest-thumping, you lose whatever moral “high ground” you may have otherwise been able to claim.
So, keep it classy Teddie (to use your diminutive term).
As much as I agree with Ted, the Weather Blog is not the forum for this type of thing. I’m frankly perplexed by how Mark permits it.
Cute, little boy, so you don’t make little grammatical mistakes? Me thinks you make very big mistakes in life and try to protest too much. I wish you well on your growth to manhood, it’s a long lonesome road you are about to embark.

Hey Mark, nice BUSTED forecast…AGAIN!?!?! You predicted 0.00001″ of frozen precip. I precisely measured 0.00003″ on my windshield today, and the moisture was WAYYYYY earlier than predicted. I guess another “F” on the report card, because what the “F” is going on here today? Just kidding!!!! HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY! AND HAPPIER BLOGGING AND HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!
Hey, sodbuster; Godwin’s law – you lose
Worth saying twice, methinks
Are we talking about east winds or east friends? Sorry, but I don’t have any. The problem is they like to cause global warming by burning a thousand gallons of jet fuel. That’s the only real global warming I care about. Here’s an idea. Let’s turn the Middle East “winds” into asphalt and real teenage angst. Then maybe the PDO will turn back into something Dave and mat will appreciate. Heck, let’s get a school bus packed up and make rosa parks upset. Oh wait. We have to be PC, politically coon-rupt! Great days for our nation. I bet our Kenyan president is really worried. I feel so bad for WW2 and Korean War veterans like my grandparents that put up with this socialist garbage. Thoughts?
Um…. Weird. Don’t mention me in that garbage Josh. I want nothing to do with it. Geeeezzzz
Childish & immature, attention seeking, emotionally stunted little person, please go find the blog for “your kind” not the weather blog for us reasonably well adjusted folks. I know that you hide behind your tirades and would not dare to speak this ignorant, bigoted vomit if we were face to face.
I completely agree but you are just making people like us look bad by posting it in that manner. So I would suggest, for your sake and mine, to stop posting stuff like this because all it does is start arguments.
Ah, the sanctimony – AND from a self-described Farmer no less. Don’t p*ss off the ‘holier than thou”, Josh.
BUT…. what BO said.
Hey “Boring, Oregon” I didn’t realize there are so many losers out there like you. I suppose you and the little man from Gladstone already have your “Donald for President” bumper stickers? Scary, this is how Hitler got started, average folks just thought he was funny at first. Please get help before you hurt someone.
Ted I will not argue with you all I will say is that I do not live in Gladstone. In fact, as you could probably assume by my name, I live in Boring.
GTS1K’, you too little person, don’t go away angry, just go away.
Woops. Read that wrong. Thought you said I was the little man from Gladstone. You’re wrong though, I don’t have a Donald Trump sticker on my truck. But maybe I’ll get one now that you mentioned it.
Hey, sodbuster; Godwin’s law – you lose…
Twice!
PS, Godwin’s law came into currency because of people (using the term loosely) just like you.
With this new band of moisture moving in tonight and tomorrow will that bring an end to the East winds out here in Corbett?
No, they aren’t going away until Thursday or Thursday night. Sorry.
But he dies in every show he’s in, except Legends.
comment was meant for poor Boromir
Last time we had four days in a row of lows at least down into the teens in Eugene was in Dec 2013. Had just a slight bit of ice on roads, nothing treacherous that I went through.
Looks like precipitation will be on the increase as we go through the next 7-10 days. Ensemble means suggestive of anywhere from 2-4 inches of rain in next ten days in the Willamette Valley. I would guess we would be on the lower end of the range.
In the longer range, CFS and Euro weeklies suggest that the next cool period relative to average and recent trend would be the second to third week of December. There will be transient periods of mountain snow before then but I don’t think that will be enough to get the lower elevation ski areas open (more likely open prior to Christmas/winter break).
Might get a bit windy on coast, valley on or around Thurs/Fri this week with a 985-990mb low coming up the coast. Not all models showing this.
No arctic air in sight
Sleet and freezing rain good glaze on the ground 27 out with the east wind blowing. Still coming down pretty good right now.
34 and cloudy at 3:00 PM. We had some sleet and zr around this morning but it wasn’t even measurable. And now a mild week with rain even at 6k most pf the week. 16 day GFS meteogram has PDX with 12.27 inches of rain. What a joke. Probably more like 4-5 inches is likely. No snow or cold weather in sight. Today was exiting but this may be it for a while. 22 days until Winter Solstice and the days start to get longer. 76 days until until MLB Spring training and 14 weeks until 7:00 PM sunsets and milder March weather. Maybe this was the worst of the Winter weather. I would like to see a little snow here and there this Winter but I don’t think we will get any. In the meantime we have Christmas and New Years and a Ducks bowl game. Merry Christmas and Peace to all and to all a goodnight.
“I would like to see a little snow here and there this Winter but I don’t think we will get any.”
That will depend on whether or not W7ENK books a long vacation to someplace far away. 🙂
Today may have been exiting, but then most days do; near nightfall. If you meant exciting,/i>, them you’re easily excited…
…and verbose.
Ooops, I f’d up an HTML tag while correcting a 5th grade spelling error…..
…quelle horreur!
Dang, two typos in one comment: first the HTML – then “them” which s/b “then” – obviously. I better get to the finger store tomorrow for some replacements. I’ll do it after I finish this crow…
33 degree rain. Yippe.
35 with some sleet in BG. Very light.
I had some snow up around 3,500′ on Silver Star today while it rained further down around 2,500′. It was 39 at the 2,500′ level at the time.
Clouds have been moving in here pretty quickly for the past hour or so. The temperature is currently 39F. I think we still have a chance for mixed precipitation, but it’s going to be very light. Nothing like 40 years ago on this date; I recorded 10 inches of snow.
I’m giving up on the possibility of snow here now. We had a light shower of rain about an hour ago and the temperature is now higher than earlier in the evening. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to wait for snow sometime later in December…
Light freezing rain in corbett
Not that it’s very accurate…
But the last 4 or 5 runs of the CFS have been pretty/very cold in December..General consensus of some cold on the 13th-ish is the closest possibility..not that it means anything.
But fun to look at!
Interestingly, isn’t that about when the epic 2008 cold wave began?
It has been flip-flopping around for a little while. Never really getting cold enough for snow though.
ryanlounsbury Actually the CFS has been cold enough for metro area snow multiple times, some of the runs are super cold.
Also noticed that. Hoping it is still teasing us in a few more days
We can hope!
Sleet falling in SE PDX. Steady rain now at Murray and 26 with temps to 37. Better half just called and told me 35 in Aloha
Light sleet in North Portland.
Hopefully this is not a winter of near misses for accumulation of frozen precipitation..
Good one! However Boromir is way more noble and better in the original books then the dreaded movie version.
Boromir is never wrong 🙂
Oops, put my comment in the wrong spot.
I’ve seen it snow at 38 😉
