Wettest Day Since Spring Break!

The heavy shower that moved over PDX between 2-3pm dumped almost a quarter inch of rain.  That combined with earlier showers puts us up to .53″ for the day so far.  That’s the most rain we’ve seen in a calendar day since March 23rd!  It’s about time.  It’s very unusual to not see a .50″ day at some point in April, May, or June…evidence of how extremely weird late spring and early summer was.

Just walked outside and WOW! This is the most refreshing atmosphere I have felt since last winter. The air smells clean, free of pollen and dust and has a moist cleansing feeling to it on my face. I don’t think I have been so grateful to get a good rain. Living in Oregon, you just learn to take it for granted.

Unbelievable. I live in pdx. I was outside from 1:30 to 2:30 pm today, shopping at the South Waterfront farmers market. Not one drop of rain fell. In fact, it was hot, and windy. No rain. Sad here.

  4. Good for Portland- it’s about time you had a “real” rainfall! We had one day with over half an inch in July, and a wet finish to August, so you needed it more than us north of the 49th.

.90 in Salem today with .48 falling between Noon and 1:00 PM in a very heavy shower. As far as the meteogram the rain that they predicted was a 16 day total for PDX. With about two of those inches coming between the 25th and the 26th. This same meteogram last week had PDX around 96 on the 25th and 26th. However the showers are quickly coming to an end with no more precip coming until maybe next Thursday according to the NWS. Meteograms are good for predicting trends not for specifics. So to say it will rain 8 days from now yes. To say .82 is much harder to be accurate. Peace.

In regards to my post below, aren’t should say wont be. I know its a 16 day total. I think we all do. Kind of hard not to when the dates are on it. Anyways I’m so happy rain is falling now and everyone’s dry streaks have ended and fall is here. Maybe a quick warm up this weekend before it cools off again and rains eventual return later next week.

Wow, almost an inch in Salem. Maybe those meteogram totals aren’t so far off after all. As we head into the wet season I expect those totals to become closer and closer to reality. I’m happy for the salmon, rivers, fires, and generally everything as the rains fall.
