Snow Totals: Storm #3 Saturday

Time to tell us how much snow you have.  We are looking for 3 bits of info…

1. Location (City or area)

3. How much you have on the ground now

4. If you have only had freezing rain or rain today, I would love to know that too.

Leave all other discussion on previous posts.

Outer Southeast Portland by David Douglas High School. We have had about 2 to 3 inches so far today and was snowing really hard most of the time. If I had to guess how many inches we had I would say probably close to 6 in our back yard. No freezing rain as of yet and honestly I don’t want it. Just plain rain will do fine.

  5. Stephanie says:

There’s still too much wind in Troutdale/ my end of Gresham to even measure the snow.

  6. Anthony says:

We live in Bend. As of this afternoon, we measured 23 inches in our front yard. They can’t keep up with the snowfall here. The snow won’t stop falling.

After days of no snow, it finally started snowing lightly about an hour ago and is snowing heavily now.
    Nothing sticking yet,
Nothing on the ground from before (although I heard that Chinook and Ilwaco had an inch or two.)

But I was able to add onto my reservation so that I can try to get back to Hillsboro on Sunday … I appreciate the ideas on when is a good time to try to get home, and if should take Hwy 26 or 30.

    • dharmabum says:

      Isn’t rain liquid?

    • Randy says:

Rain: splat and remains wet on the ground when over 32 degrees
Freezing rain: freezes only after it hits the ground when at or below 32 degrees
Sleet: rain that freezes before it hits the ground and, usually freezing way before it hits the ground. Makes the tapping sound on windows, which is what Jeff obviously has.
Snow: pretty white stuff that falls from the sky when therms profile is below freezing from source to ground.
