ECMWF Monthly Run

The 4 weekly maps from last night’s ECMWF run show some sort of ridging wanting to remain just off or along the West Coast through the next 4 weeks!  Not a good sign for those wanting some weather action in January.  But just one run of one model of course.  Enjoy the pretty colors:

Winter’s over. Who said that?!?! Oh yeah, I guess Mark just did with a lil help from these maps.
I know, way too early, but just my prediction IF this warmer type ridging were to persist into the middle/end of January. No cold and snow for us, almost alarmingly bad snow pack for watering the gardens this summer. But, as Schmidt mentioned, winter part (drop a) DUECE will begin on March 1st. I surely hope not.

Yeah, this winter stinks. Looks like another ‘fogversion’ will be the rule THIS January, just as it was last year. I can replace LAST year’s rime frost photo on my iphone, with NEXT year’s
      rime frost photo.

“Say that again? Snow fans have to root for dry air, heavy rain”

  3. …when do water managers start getting nervous…

This means yellow snow right 😉

Hope we don’t pay for this ridging with troughiness Mar-May

Given how low the snowpack is right now, I’d be willing to make a compromise for a wet and troughy Feb-Mar for lots of mountain snow, then nice spring weather for April through early June.
