Worst Fire Danger of the Week Right Now

October 5, 2012

Everything out there screams EXTREME FIRE DANGER this afternoon…

TEMPS:

Temperatures are climbing into the lower 70s, above average again today

WIND:

As expected, the wind has picked up not only in the usual east wind spots, but now we have a widespread east wind event again like Wednesday afternoon.  That’s across the entire metro.  Just got an email from fire boss John Rinier saying they have some trees and powerlines down again out in Washington County.

RELATIVE HUMIDITY:

We’re heading down into the 10-15% range the next 3 hours, the lowest we’ve seen all week!

Any fire that develops this afternoon could spread quickly in these conditions, much like what happened up in Shelton Washington yesterday.
