10pm: Lightning Done For Now, 4,000+ Strikes

That was quick…in just one hour we’ve gone to absolutely no lightning strikes in Oregon.  That doesn’t mean we won’t see anything the rest of the night, but the action is over for now.

Our equipment shows over 4,000 strikes this afternoon/evening across Oregon.  Almost all of it in south central and central Oregon.  A church was hit by lightning in Bend and numerous fires have been started in the Fremont-Winema NF.

Why, oh why, am I not camping at Olallie Lake TONIGHT instead of last week???  Look at the last hour’s worth of lightning strikes.  They sure aren’t strong storms, but they are producing dozens of strikes every 15 minutes.  It’ll soon be visible in the sky to the SE of the metro area as darkness moves in…
