A small disturbance is moving into the Central Coast range, enhancing the showers there and they are spreading into parts of the Central/Northern Willamette Valley. This, along with cooling temps, brings back the possibility of snow sticking to lower elevations…

Waiting patiently…
Only Rain ?
37.0F and 100% rain when I went to bed last night, yes.
35.8F and very light rain sprinkles when I got up this morning.
Snow accumulation Ø.ØØ inches = Null.
All snow now in Oregon City. Not sticking yet.
Drove in from Seattle tonight and had very heavy snow south of Olympia around 9:30pm; covered I-5 with quick inch or two. Very large flakes…fun to watch!
Snow now here. I-5 & Willamette River. My daughter says it’s snowing heavily at PacU in Forest Grove, but mostly still slush on ground.
Live cam about 5 mi. west of my house.

Nice accumulation. Fun to watch with the flood light on!
33 deg now with almost an inch of snow.
All snow has began in Aloha. Not sticking yet, but the temeratures are having a party.
36F and dropping
not dropping anymore.
Yep rain snow mix at 250 feet in Bethany. Hopefully it will drop a couple degrees.
Eh, i think you can remove that word possibility of sticking snow in your forecast for at least us down here in salem metro area. 🙂
Precip starting in SW Beaverton…50/50 mix rain/snow….
We already broke the 1 inch mark and its not slowing down yet. Thanks for managing my expectations and letting us get a bit surprised. Can’t wait for the morning!
Ya
havent been outside in about 30 mins, but from my window, it sure looks amazing, everything is white, and its still coming down really hard, i hope that low keeps the snow going, and we get something out of this, i mean im already pretty excited from it already, i say SNOWSTORM 🙂
Currently 31 degrees
Snowing
1 inch now here in Aumsville.
Great stuff! Thankyou winter!
I need to get some pictures and send them to Mark.
SUPRISE!
really coming down now here in west salem, starting to stick to surfaces, but not the roads yet.
WHITE!
Tillamook Snow
Sticking to the roads now.
An hour ago, I heard “likely nothing except a flurry or a sprinkle”… Still not expecting much but it’s amazing how fast a forecast can change.
This forecast is already underestimating what is going on at least in the central valley so hold on
At 5 & 6pm we said 1″ or less in the lowest elevations for the morning commute. We’ll see. And 2-4″ around 1,000′ and higher. That’s fine so far.
The posting below was around 10am this morning.
The key would be “so far…”
What to make of the rotation NW of Astoria? Could be nothing. Moving SE.
http://www.atmos.washington.edu/weather/sat.shtml
I’m pretty sure that’s something. A weak low?
Yes. Mark pointed it out on the 10 PM newscast.
The NWS also pointed it out in their forecast:
“A VORT MAX IS SEEN IN WATER PICTURES THIS EVENING OFF
THE WA COAST NEAR 127W…MOVING SLOWLY SE. MODELS BRING THIS VORT
MAX ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA THU MORNING. WITH IMPROVED DYNAMICS
COUPLING WITH THE COLD MOIST ONSHORE FLOW…EXPECT TO SEE WIDESPREAD
SHOWERS CONTINUE OVERNIGHT”
If this thing hits portland, its going to be chaos on the morning commute on the west side of town. Sure don’t miss having to cross those hills into downtown… if the moisture makes its way up there
I live in Tillamook at about 125 feet and its currently 33 and snowing. We have about 1/2 inch or so right now and still snowing.
Snowing hard here @ 380′. Sticking to everything but the road!
getting light snow here in west salem at about 300ft level. Temp is 35.4 not sticking to anything quite yet, but we did get a dusting at this elevation this morning. Expecting to wake up to a white covered ground in the morning at this rate. 🙂
Last half hour it has been totally dumping, Unfortunately the temp is stuck at 34 deg. So just a good layer of slush so far.
Look at the radar this baby just got rolling. Its near white-out conditions currently
Looking forward to that blob hitting me next!
In about the past 15 minutes we went from wet everywhere to snow everywhere even the street. I’d say this is gonna be a bit worse than originally thought
Holy moley its REALLY coming down and sticking to everything. Most since the january storm, this is going to be 1 inch very soon if not already. better adjust that forecast!
rain snow mix temperature 34 degrees
Off and on rain and snow showers out here in South Salem at 550′ elevation. This morning my whole neighborhood was covered in snow and some of the snow in my yard never melted today.
I’m all snow here since about 930
Mark. Same forecast for Kelso-Longview?
Looks to me like there is a lot more moisture south towards Portland than there is north. I think this may be one of the few times that Kelso/Longview doesn’t get the goods. Who knows though, things can change.
Yeah, true. How is it going to be all snow though? Being above freezing.
Back peddling.. 😀 Not a dis, I’m glad for another chance of even snow in the air!
pedaling
Where’s Larry? I bet he’s been getting hammered
…snowing real hard…
He’s OK. Got a really fine snow cave. You should hear the sound system he’s got in there 😉
So what your saying is there is still a chance in the PDX Metro area? Crap….Im ready for spring!
Thanks for the continual updates…we appreciate it.
