5pm Update: Rain Continues

Looks like that roast is totally cooked (see yesterday’s post); no snow event this afternoon/evening in the lowest elevations.  It’s been too warm not only at the surface but also above.  Better chance for snow late tonight and tomorrow morning.  6am-10am should be real interesting.  Here’s our forecast for this evening:

  1. Andrew (Portland....Sylvan Highlands ~800 feet) says:

32 with moderate snow here, everything is coated in a nice light layer of snow.

  2. alohabb says:

Temps falling for sure…but I see less and less moisture moving in from the coast. Maybe some clearing will get us down to freezing so the roads become a mess????

  3. AlohaWeather says:

Temperature’s are finally falling in Aloha. 40 half an hour ago, now down to 37.5 and falling.

  4. Marc (East Vancouver) says:

So tomorrow morning looks “real interesting”. Is Mark’s forecast still calling for rain below 1000 feet except mixed with snow occasionally? There isn’t much said on the blog and I didn’t catch the show this evening.

  5. Andrew (Portland....Sylvan Highlands ~800 feet) says:

Temperatures are back to dropping here once again, down to 35 now. Hopefully its snowing when i get up at 5am tomorrow!

  6. Temps should drop when this cold front comes in!!! CHECK IT OUT

  7. o.c.paul says:

Ah, this farce, this fraud that is the last gasp of this horrid winter.
This could have, would have, should have been winter. 40 degrees and hard rain at 200′ in Oregon City. Better luck next fall.

    • john says:

tell me about it here in puyallup the temperature has been rising and every rain shower or band disbands before reaching here

    • john says:

there might be hope here after all temp has doped 2 degrees in the last 45 mins

  8. Andrew (Portland....Sylvan Highlands ~800 feet) says:

36 here currently with mainly rain, some VERY chunky snow mixed in here and there.

  9. PaulB/Eugene says:

Rain/snow mix at 513′ in EUG…35.7F and dropping…precip rate .23in/hr at the moment

  10. W7ENK says:

WOW! It suddenly became VERY windy!! 😯

  11. Yevpolo1990 says:

Mark, how comes the low is off of Wa coast and is still producing such impressive easterly gradient? It is at -5mb now. Is it due to the high in Utah and or BC?

  12. Ryan says:

Still 37 in Beaverton but hopIng it will drop overnight, sounds like there’s plenty of moisture behind the front.

  13. Marc (East Vancouver) says:

Definitely feels and looks like mid winter outside..

  14. john says:

OK so i live in puyallup Washington and the temperature has not changed at all and its not even raining what in the world is going on

  15. umpire says:

Dang, my last day of work tomorrow (I’m retired as of 5:00 p.m.!), and all I get as a send-off is chunky rain 🙂

  16. …really weird, was snowing hard at 33 something, temp dropped to 32.1, then 31.8, and it changed to a rain/snow mix…huh?….little bit of warm air sneaking in just above me???

  17. It’s still 37 up here in the coastal foothills…

  18. john says:

why does the cold air seem to be in pockets here in the Puget sound can anyone explain thanks

  19. Joshua in Lake Oswego says:

Man, it’s still 41 degrees here. No chance of snow anytime soon.

  20. SweetpeaontheCoast says:

There is currently thunder in South Beach. We had a big, long, loud boomer about three minutes ago.

  21. What is the TOTAL SNOWFALL for PDX this year???

  22. alohabb says:

I am reading about possible heavy winds in PDX metro..what is the timing on that???

  23. I’m in the 10-15″ zone for 3 day totals on the 18z RPM, obviously overdone, but of course that is what I thought in January.

On the other hand it snows snow over the valley Salem south on the 24 hr version, probably picking up the higher terrain, that and it does generally over do it.

  24. Nathan Marx says:

Hey i am 12 years old and don’t want school tomorrow or at lest a delay. Is there any hope?

  25. Just rain/snow mix up here. Pretty much what I expected for early evening. Current temp is 35.2. Tomorrow looks pretty snowy up here.

  26. chiefWright (Marquam) says:

So what shall we end up calling this event, since winter was “R.I.P’d” a few weeks ago?
“I’m not dead yet! (whack!) Right, see you next week..”
“Not with a bang, but a whimper”
    “Hmmm– what’s that smell??”

  27. Wendy-Silverlake, Wa says:

Strangest thing, we had snow all day, on and off. Now that the temp has dropped, just getting rain with a bit of snow mixed in. On the other hand, having issues keeping the lights on. They’re flickering like crazy.

  28. holly in eastmoreland says:

    First?

  29. alohabb says:

Mark..nice job as usual! Gotta say, your pretty dang close to right on with the forcasting! Kudos…

Now could you give me the winning lotto numbers so I can move to a tropical island!!!!!

    LOL
