Once in awhile we get a really spectacular viewer photo…today was one of those. It’s this morning on Rockaway Beach. The setting moon between Twin Rocks. Don Best sent this one in.

THE BASICS:
Commenting on this blog is open to anyone with an interest in or fascination with weather. Here at FOX-12 we're happy to provide you a space to "geek out" with fellow Pacific Northwesterners. But please don't abuse the privilege.
1. POSTING LINKS/VIDEO:
It's okay to insert video or pictures, as long as the link points to something appropriate for the general public. No politics, obscenity, etc...
2. CHOOSE A NAME ONCE:
Choose a name or identification once and stick with it. The very first time you comment it is held for moderation. After it's approved, that EXACT name will be allowed to comment at any time. Note that this applies to your IP address too. So using the same name but on Grandma's computer will require a one-time hold as well. This keeps the spam out.
3. NO PROFANITY:
This is pretty obvious, but avoid being rude or taunting others too.
4. NO RACISM, OR VIOLENT THREATS:
This will get you kicked off quickly. Please report this to me at mark.nelsen@kptv.com if it happens here.

i think i remember those clubs…..
Between the smoke, heat and farmer’s working their fields, the air around here is like walking into a packed night club back in the 70s when smoking was allowed inside. My eyes are burning. 92 deg here and no wind. Choke, choke, cough, cough….
Come on westerlies!
PDX @ 93!
Out on marine dr. No wind what so ever flat as. Pancake. Truck themomter reads 97, hmmm.
Mike, as you were posting I was just obtaining more info. The 2 fires most prominent on satellite imagery and radar are the View Lake Complex and Scott Mountain fires.

I am quite concerned especially for the Olallie Lake Resort/scenic area as this area is tinder dry, lots of beetle killed trees, and the trees are very thick. As the onshore flow takes hold the westerly winds will be howling over the Cascades and I assume the fires will spread exponentially towards the east/northeast.
I hope Olallie Lake escapes. That is a beautiful area that I’m looking forward to showing my wife once we get back to Oregon. If I recall correctly though the area along the north and east side of Olallie Lake actually did burn about ten years ago.
Must be another fire on the west slopes of the north/central Cascades..

90 degrees even currently
There were reports of a fire outside Estacada last evening, looks like it’s really blown up today.
93.8, looking forward to the strong marine push.
