Vacation Time II

Looks like the comments shut off after 10 days of no posting.  Sorry about that.  It should be working again.  I’ve been checking on email/blog every 3 days or so and just now noticed the comments  stopped a couple days ago.

Yuck!  Looks like I’m not missing much back home.  Unusual late season snow in mountains and rainy/windy in the valleys.  I’ll be back on Friday.

    [Milwaukie]
Peak gust at my station 28.1 mph at 3:36pm. Fail.

0.70″ of rain in the last 24 hours. The majority of that fell between whenever it started raining last night and 11am. We completely missed all those heavy showers, and didn’t see any hail whatsoever. 😦

Yet again, this storm was rather disappointing.

I’m going to go cry myself to sleep now… j/k 😆

  2. Ben Randall says:

Been Having Half snow /hail tonight …. Maybe we are in for a surpise

  3. flurball says:

Just going on Sat alone this next storm looks more impressive than the last. Don’t crucify me as I have not looked at models at all but just as a “photogragh from the Sat it looks more impressive to me than the one knocking on our door from last night with a more southerly/north track. Just going on this visual alone I would’ve thought this was the one to talk about and maybe before models developed like they have, it would be?

  4. Mr Data says:

Nice video however it goes so fast it’s ‘almost’ impossible to see anything unless you stop the video at the pre setted time-frames.

    Good night.

  5. Tyler in Hazel Dell says:

Time lapse from today, 6:45 AM to 6:45 PM.

Notice the clouds moving from the SE (Left) then from the SW and west (right) later. Around 43 seconds (1PM), a very strong shower moves through with winds 40-45 mph. This is what caused the power to flicker.

    • Tyler in Hazel Dell says:

DOH! Swap the right and the left 🙂 I’m still learning!

    • flurball says:

Tyler, what’s with that big tarp thing on the roll? Were they thinking of putting sarran wrap over the apartments? 🙂

    • Tyler says:

They are residing and re roofing right now.:). New paint soon!…depending on the weather.

    • flurball says:

Understood. Maybe trying out for the Portland Beavers ground crew but it looks like they gave up 🙂

  6. Mr Data says:

Edit consistent south winds I meant.

    Oops. 😮

  7. Mr Data says:

I am stunned as to why there hasn’t been an anaylis yet as to the cause of no south winds?

    What were we missing?

What was the final jigsaw pice to the whole puzzle?

Not sure if I can speak for all spotters in the willammete valley but today was a bust in all accords.

Had one burst of heavy rain in the afternoon and that’s it which isn’t unusual this type of year……………….:-?

  8. Snow-Zone/Monmouth-Elv200' says:

39.7F it would be cool to have the temp fall some more and see some flakes fly through the air with a heavy shower passing through… Will I get that probably not lol.

  9. Battle Ground Brian says:

Highest wind reported in the Pacific Northwest from this storm:

Hurricane Ridge— 105mph while it was 26 degrees.

    • Snow-Zone/Monmouth-Elv200' says:

Dang that is sweet. I wonder how much lightning was associated with them, probably cloud to cloud for the most part..

  14. Ben Randall says:

Just has 1/2 inch hail and lightning in a thunderstorm … Radar was saying 10% sever

    • Snow-Zone/Monmouth-Elv200' says:

      Dang seriously! Thats awesome!!!

    • Snow-Zone/Monmouth-Elv200' says:

Oh yeah I can see the cell that hit you on the radar lope, a dark red core for sure.

    • Ben Randall says:

Yeah …. It has died off now …Just shows you that this can happen today …what about tonight and the wintry mix idea at all elevations

    • Snow-Zone/Monmouth-Elv200' says:

I bet some low areas will see a snow/rain mix or hail with heavier showers tonight, especially in the hillier terrain, but I am not sure how much the showers will die down when the sun sets. Its 41.7F here so I am expecting a possible mix tonight, had some this morning at 39F when it was dumping…

    • Snow-Zone/Monmouth-Elv200' says:

Ben, did you get any pics of the hail? Was it covering everything pretty well in white?

  15. Battle Ground Brian says:

Did anyone see the record heat wave in the great lakes and Ohio Valley yesterday?
They usually reap the weather benefits of our crappy spring weather in the northwest. Temps reached the 80’s into northern Michigan and the 75 degree line pushed well into Ontario Canada.
