New ECMWF Link

I added a link to my weather page: http://www.cascadeaccess.com/~mnelsen/markswxlinks.html

About halfway down, right side, the ECMWF pulldown menu.  I put the images from the actual ECMWF site into a much easier format to look at.  That website they have is a real pain to navigate.  I’ve only got the 500mb heights working this evening, but I’ll make an 850mb/Sfc link in a day or two.

As we get within 4 days watch for the models to start sensing the Rockies. Watch the core of the cold air to slide east of it, with only a little bit moving into our area. I think Mark is right on the money for temperature for Sunday-Monday period.

Every event I’ve ever seen did something like it. It’s a one and a hundred arctic outbreak to drop right over us.

Anyone excited about the 00z Euro Snowstorm?

Thanks Mark for the new link and update! You the MAN!

Seeing as the 0z GEM is much colder in line with the GFS it is reasonable to assume tonight’s 0z EURO may finally come around as well. I would say odds are increasing for an arctic blast now.

I AGREE ROB! I Also like the colder air just following behind the first cold snap! If this continues to push down and any of those lows go just a bit further south we are in for some fun.The ECMWF 12Z is showing them further south than 00z. JUST SOMETHING TO CONSIDER!

  5. Aloha Rainshadow says:

Mark, does that update as it comes out or does it only update once it’s done like the EURO website?

  6. Mark Nelsen says:

Looks like somebody at the 12 minus 10 station made a quick change to the forecast for next Monday.

    Something going on?
You’d think there was an impending arctic blast?
00z models are good so far with another biggie left in the hopper, due out in 45-50 mins.
The 00z is cold but the cold got pushed back, again…
the 00z ensembles are colder than the 18z for sure.
The 00z GEM is wonderful…watch the 06z GFS tomorrow morning, if this looks like the 00z GEM, there is a very high likelyhood this will happen.
And then there’s the Euro, it took baby steps toward an outbreak for us on the 12z, lets see if it comes in line tonight, if we see the Euro score it later, this could be money in the bag!! Even if it doesn’t, I just want to see improvement towards the other models, the dumb Euro has been crazy this episode!

Timing pushed back… Hmmmm…. Well doesn’t look like by much judging by the 0z WRF-GFS.

I think things look “good” right now, but would like to see the ECMWF come in line with the GFS.

    • Aloha Rainshadow says:

Rob, remember yesterday the 00z was showing the bitterly cold weather on Sunday? Also, the 18z was showing the cold air arriving Late saturday night, 00z is showing about 18 hours later for the arrival.

    • Rob "Wrath" S.E. Portland says:

Yeah maybe 12+hours.. Perhaps timing speeds back up.

      Peanut brittlerly cold air.
