Only a Few of the "Main" Cascade Lakes Open This Weekend
A nice little rain “storm” (for May at least) over the last 24 hours. Looks like 24 hour totals ranged from .04″ at McMinnville to .62″ at Troutdale (and still counting). I’ve had .93″ at home in a generally wetter location east of Corbett. That would explain the moss growing on trees; plus the mildew I had to scrape off the deck today in preparation for some weekend deck-staining festivities. It was good that some of us did get a soaking today, since I don’t see any rain in the next 7 days or so.
Not a whole lot to talk about in the forecast…a very mild June-like weather pattern sets up for the next week. That includes a switch to offshore flow Thursday, back to weak onshore Friday, then stronger onshore Saturday. So probably no A.M. low clouds Thursday or Friday, but they’ll return Saturday and maybe Sunday. Ridging seems to be a bit stronger Memorial Day and beyond. That’s why we have the temps bumping into the 80s at that point. I see the 00z GFS just in is a bit flatter though. Either way, a stretch of mild weather is in the offing and I’ve taken a chance planting my cucumbers a bit earlier than normal…hoping this might be “the year”.

LOL Glad that accuweather station is only in my brain or I’d be screwed.
Remember, Tetraforce, a man with one thermometer always knows the temperature, but a man with two thermometers is never sure.
*wins a free Accuweather station from the quiz and installs it* Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh it has a USB cord for the coomputer cool!
Oregon scientific says a high of 76F
Accuweather station: 81F………………..-_-
Sunny and upper 60’s in Anacortes. Just boarded the ferry for Friday Harbor. Winds are very light and water is about as smooth as I’ve ever seen it here.
How can a trough be dry anyways?
And the beat goes on………………………….

“For what the 00zGFS is worth, it basically shows that after this weekend, we remain dry right through June 3rd/4th with highs probably in the 60`s and a some what dry trough off the West coast around the time frame mentioned.”
(sigh) I sure wish I could do quote tags to wrap around that.

Seeing the lasted 06zGFS, it still appears that tomorrow through the weekend will be pleasantly nice with highs getting back into the 60`s for tomorrow and Fri with possible low-mid 70`s for Sat/Sun. This will be due a surface ridge building over the Western US with thicknesses rising into the mid-upper 550`s with 850mb rising to near +10c. Though 500mb heights look to stay in the lower 570`sdm tomorrow through the weekend. But should be partly to mostly sunny, but flow aloft being nearly zonal and lack of upper level ridging for the weekend, there could be a few morning clouds, but otherwise sunshine should be the main weather story. 850mb temps climb a little higher for Mon/Tue following week and up to near +12c, but 500mb heights still staying the low 570`s. So could see some mid 70`s with maybe a few upper 70`s.
Mmmmmmm…Cucumbers. I love spring veggie planting season Mr. Nelson!
…Look out Bambi….i saw you out by the garden teaching your kid how to crawl under the electric fence, so we strung up another layer…stick to the field, it’s safer!!!…..
Quite a bit of thunder and lighting around Woodland this afternoon between 3-4PM–quiet now.
Regarding this being the year, I am with you Mark. I am thinking the mild weather this week might be a chance to get the tomatoes etc. in with out the searing hot sun. I haven’t planted B4 the last week in May for a very long time. My annual target date is the end of the 3rd week of May. We are there!
Got a call from my daughter a while ago…. she and her hubby headed off to Bend around 3:00 this afternoon and encountered an “impressive and unexpected snowfall” on their way over Santiam Pass. Caught ’em off guard… (now, if they monitored this blog, they might know about things like that…see, they don’t “listen to mom”…). 😉
Crisp, chilly night here tonight…. which is just fine with me! 😀
…Here in Barton, the garden area is still so wet that planting really isnt an option yet…….
