Severe T'Storm reached 70 dBZ N.E. of Elgin Today
THE BASICS:
Commenting on this blog is open to anyone with an interest in or fascination with weather. Here at FOX-12 we're happy to provide you a space to "geek out" with fellow Pacific Northwesterners. But please don't abuse the privilege.
1. POSTING LINKS/VIDEO:
It's okay to insert video or pictures, as long as the link points to something appropriate for the general public. No politics, obscenity, etc...
2. CHOOSE A NAME ONCE:
Choose a name or identification once and stick with it. The very first time you comment it is held for moderation. After it's approved, that EXACT name will be allowed to comment at any time. Note that this applies to your IP address too. So using the same name but on Grandma's computer will require a one-time hold as well. This keeps the spam out.
3. NO PROFANITY:
This is pretty obvious, but avoid being rude or taunting others too.
4. NO RACISM, OR VIOLENT THREATS:
This will get you kicked off quickly. Please report this to me at mark.nelsen@kptv.com if it happens here.

Okay I hate this Word Press stuff. I’ve been trying to post for I dunno 10-15 minutes? and it refuses to let me. Time to get Chatango or something with a real-time live chat service.
Trying to post…..
Wow, the wind has really picked up here! Getting gusts from the west up to 25 mph.
I’ve heard a lot of lightning on AM radio the past 25 minutes.
Cell has strengthened very nicely just east Battle Ground. Mark is keeping an eye on it with Fox12 Live Radar.

?
Test?
Ugh it won’t let me post anything.
Dang it. I’ve been trying to post about the cell E-NE of Battle Ground as well as posting a link, but it isn’t allowing me to.
It looks like Mark is watching the cell just E-NE of Battle Ground.
You can watch that here on the Fox12 live radar.

Yeah Timothy, way earlier, Ben Monjay reported it as he was out there observing the developing line of showers moving NNW.
Sorry, meant Timmy.

It won’t let me post….
A lot of red cores with hail signatures the last hour or so. And a CG just popped up on the lightning pic.
So the Hillsboro Stadium had rumbles of thunder? I didn’t hear anything yet.
heavy downpour moving through longview right now, some pea sized hail, along with a flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder.
No one answered my question. Oh well.
57F and cloudy. No downpours to speak of here but nicer weather on the horizon.
Heavy downpour here now. So it’s reached the east side now.
Heavy downpour here right now (tanasbourne)! Ben Monjay reports a rumble of thunder near the Hillsboro Stadium. Showers are poppin for sure across the valley, focused ont he west side right now but moving NW and increasing in coverage to the east side. Nothing major but dbz’s up around 54 at times with the cell that popped just north of North Plains.
Gettin’ a pretty good down-pour over here…. Looks like a decent batch of precip hitting the west-side and heading NE… Tomorrow should be a perfect day (soft ground) to pick the new weeds that grew over the past couple of warmer days… Can’t describe how happy that makes me….. 😉
0.39″ rain since 8:30pm last night….Good soaking for my plants, flowers…
Maybe some convective showers this afternoon???
After that, its looks dry and warm…Memorial Day lookin’ good as of now.
50.4F
Hope the confused smiley shows up.
Timmy what happened to the snow? I just looked at the cam the first time now.
49.3°F here now….
Hmmm…might have to move up to Gov’t Camp to get my spring snow-fix…. Snowin’ up there right now….

0.21″ of rain last night. Currently 49.2° with some partial clearing.
Good night all.
Hmmm looking closely at IR enhanced loop and me thinks tomorrow might be active. Looks like a decent cold pool aloft moves over PDX/VUO metro and points northward. If we can get any sun breaks things may go boom.
Well, I am going to bed now. I can’t track this rediculously long lived supercell forever. Tell me if anything else happens.
Are you guys looking at the Missoula skycam right now? amazing sight. It looks like the Superior supercell has a lot of structure to it. I saw a shelf cloud in front of one of the lightning flashes.
wonderful warm day
pollen settling evening
the delights of May
It’s raining now. 55.9F (Was light rain and now it’s drizzle.
Radar just NW of Missoula is very impressive.
Check this out!
You can see how it is bowing out and also how sharp the leading edge is.
Rob, GRLevel 3 shows 67,000 ft. on the echo tops product. I don’t see it anywhere.
I switched to KMSX Missoula now. Actually the line just NW of Missoula has intensified a lot and may be severe warned shortly.
Missoula streaming cam

Yeah 67,000′ I just find really unlikely. It’s hard to get storms topping 60,000′ even in the midwest/plains.
Rob, you seeing all that lightning? it is beautiful! i am trying to get still shots, and its impossible.
…one of the reasons we made that flab 5 chat was to give real time talk a chance,….. there’s bandwidth to spare…and it’s always there for folks….
I hope it survives into the Missoula area. I have a streaming cam from there.
