Sign Up for School Visits

December 7, 2007

SnapshotI was out in Canby this morning visiting kids…which made me think that I should mention school visits here on the blog.  If you are a teacher and would like one of us in the weather department to visit your classroom and have a weather chat, we’ve added a signup for on the weather page at  I’m scheduling WAY ahead (as far as March right now) too, so send us a note if you’re interested.
As for weather…those annoying showers just don’t want to go away!  Even at 6pm the radar shows light showers in the Central Willamette Valley.  Pretty bad considering I though today would be a dry day with plenty of afternoon sun.  Dewpoints are quite a bit lower to the north in Western Washington, and with a light northerly drift tomorrow, we should see drier air filter in.  That’s AFTER a very weak system drops south out of British Columbia overnight.  It also helps to usher in drier and colder air too.  So it’s going to feel a bit chilly tomorrow even with more sun.  I think the combination of a cold night tomorrow night and then a mostly cloudy day from Sunday’s weak system will keep us quite chilly on Sunday.  It’ll be tough to crack 40 degrees.  Models continue to just barely keep moisture away Sunday afternoon, so I left moisture out of the forecast.  Of course with temperatures and freezing levels so low, anything that falls could mix with snow.  But after last weekend’s snow "freakout", I have no plans to mention that on-air (or in the newsroom).
I have to say that next week sure looks pretty quiet weatherwise.  A couple weak systems pass by, mainly to the north, which keeps us from getting too chilly, but not a real good chance for rain either.  Looks pretty dry.  That’s all for tonight, but I’m working this weekend so maybe I’ll post tomorrow evening…Mark Nelsen
